      宜兴市，简称宜，古称"荆邑"、"阳羡"，位于江苏南部，太湖西岸。

      宜兴是中国陶都。宜兴素有"陶的古都，洞的世界，茶的绿洲，竹的海洋" 之称。宜兴是 "紫砂壶"原产地，拥有石灰岩溶洞80多个。茶园3500金公。竹海级横八百里 。宋代大诗人苏东坡在宜兴留下"买田阳羡吾将老，从初只为溪山好"的诗句。宜兴人文荟萃，诞生了4位状元、10位宰相、26位两院院士，被誉为院士教授之乡。宜兴属吴越文化，是江浙民系使用吴语。
